Steelhead Machine, Inc is seeking to fill full time positions for Experienced CNC Machinist, Programmers and Entry Level Operators with a smaller growing company which provides high quality precision parts and components for various industries including Automation, Robotics, Aerospace and Medical.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and studies CAD drawings, models, blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, sample parts, work instructions and set-up documentation, to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, as well as the sequence of setups and operations to prepare for machining.
    • Sets-up and operates CNC machining equipment
  • Set up work holding/fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, loads CNC program, set part and tool offsets.
    • Sets up and operates machine on initial/trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings and program plus make necessary adjustments as needed.
    • Proofs out machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls (zeroes, offsets, etc.) as required. 
    • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. 
    • Knowledge of measuring tools and gauges, go/no-go pins and other equipment.
    • Submits 1st Piece Article to the Inspection Department for inspection verification/buy-off on the job traveler operation prior to continuing/running in production mode. 
    • Monitors and maintains machine coolants, lubricants, oils, fluids, grease, etc. and fills as required. 
    • Documents maintenance tasks performed on the machine's Coolant Fluid Maintenance Log, as applicable. 
    • Possess good working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance as it applies to machined product.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 1-5 year’s experience in CNC Machining
  • Experience with 3, 4 or 5 axis Mills
  • Working knowledge of G&M codes
  • Experience using common inspection and measurement tools
  • Ability to perform and apply appropriate shop math calculations
  • Work from oral and written instructions, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and code books
  • Great communication- written and verbal skills
  • Maintain high standards for Safety and Quality
  • May be required to work overtime to meet deliveries and demand
  • Must be willing to work and assist other employees
  • Must be able to follow instructions
